Help Our Teachers: Each year about this time, the school teachers run out of simple classroom needs. They buy these items out of their own pocket. We can help with these simple supplies. During the month of February we are collecting:
Boxes of Kleenex, White Elmers Glue, Dry Erasers, Playdoh, Pencil Sharpeners with shaving catchers and Ticonderoga Pencils. Please leave items in the basket in the Narthex. Thank you! --Board of Life & Growth


Thrivent Choice Dollars:  The deadline to designate your Thrivent Choice Dollars is approaching at the end of March. In the past this has meant thousands of dollars, at no cost to you, to help with projects at Salem and  we ask that you please continue to support this valuable program.
How to direct Thrivent Choice Dollars® By phone:
Step 1—Call 1-800-847-4836 and when prompted, say “Thrivent Choice.”  Step 2— When prompted, say “Choice Dollars.”  Step 3— Say or enter your Social Security number.  Step 4— Press 1 to direct Choice Dollars.  Step 5— Talk to a representative to direct Choice Dollars.


Auto Giving: Would you like to increase your giving this year with the Simply Giving program or start Auto Giving (ACH withdrawals)? Please contact the office and leave a message 641.592.1771 (save a check & save an envelope)
 
Offering Envelopes: If you would like to save Salem the cost of sending you offering envelopes, you can let the office know to stop sending them and use any envelope you wish and simply write your name on the envelope.


Summer Camp:  Does your child want to attend summer bible camp? Check out your favorite summer camp website now, most of them have an early bird discount. Parents—after the down payment is complete, email your confirmation letter with balance due to Marci at [email protected] and Salem will cover the rest of the registration fee (no extras).

Winter Coats/Apparel:  Salem's Clothes Closet is in desperate need of womens, mens & childrens winter coats and other winter apparel. Please consider going through what you have at home and donating unused items. Donations can be left inside the south entrance at Salem anytime. Thank you!!

Volunteers: We are creating a list of Salem members who would like to do some home visits to members requesting a visit.  Take one of the devotional booklets with you and have a word of prayer at the end of your visit.  Sign up sheet is in the Narthex, or call the office.   -Board of Life & Growth
 
Home visits: We are creating a list of people who may be more homebound and would like a visit with one of our Salem members.  If you know of someone, let them know we are doing this and call the church office or sign up in the Narthex. 641-592-1771. Prayer Chain Ministry is a network of people who are committed to prayer and will take action on behalf of others. If you will pray for those in need, sign-up in the Narthex to be notified by either email, text or phone. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, call the office and the prayer request will get sent out.  If there is no answer, leave a message. All requests will be confidential among the prayer chain ministry.  Call the office with prayer requests.  Thank you!

Prayer Shawls, hand knit or crocheted by Salem members, are available in the Narthex for you to wrap someone in need. A Prayer Shawl is for anyone in need of prayer, hope, comfort and love of a community. If you would like the person included in the prayer chain, please call the office. 641.592.1771

Worship Volunteers Needed: We are in need of worship volunteers!  If you are willing to usher, acolyte, serve communion, read or sing in the liturgical choir, please sign up in the Narthex or call the office.  If you would like to learn how to help with sound, monitors or live stream, call the office. 641.592.1771

Go Green—Go Paperless by giving in one of the following ways…
-- Give through PayPal or Card by going to www.salemlakemills.com and clicking the donate button at the bottom of the page.
-- Give automatically through the Simply Giving Program.  Sign up for weekly or monthly ACH withdrawals. Call the office to have a form sent to you or stop by the office.  We also have forms in the Narthex. Please return forms to the office.   (We are charged a much lower service fee through the Simply Giving Program)

The Lake Mills Food Shelf is open 2:00-5:00pm every Monday for anyone in need of additional food.  The only criteria for eligibility is to reside within the Lake Mills School District.  The Food Shelf is now located at Salem and can be accessed at the south entrance.  Anyone in need of food when the food shelf is not open; please feel free to call and leave a message at 641-592-1771 and someone will get back to you.
 
Salem’s Clothes Closet is open every Monday from 2:00-4:00pm at Salem’s south entrance.  Clothes, shoes, boots, coats, jackets and a few other kids items are available for free. We also accept donations; they can be left inside the south entrance anytime.  We ask that donations are folded and have no holes, tears or stains.

Collections:​ We collect pop tabs, eyeglasses and receipts from David’s Marketplace and Hy-Vee.  The WELCA group receives 1 tenth of 1% of all receipts collected from David's; this can really add up and help!  The Hy-Vee receipts go towards a cure for cancer.  The baskets for all of these are in the Narthex.  Please do not roll the receipts and keep David's separate from Hy-Vee.  Thank you!

Membership List: When looking at the membership list in the Annual Report, if you notice that any of your family members information needs to be updated, please let the office know.  If your family member has moved and joined another church, please remind them to contact the office to transfer membership so that we can have an accurate membership list.  641.592.1771


​Copies of the January/February/March Christ in our Home, Bulletin, Council Minutes, Announcements and Annual Report are available on a cart between the doors at Salem's south entrance. The outer door is unlocked, they are just inside the door.
