A message from Gloria Dei Lutheran, Iowa City:
Pastor Roger Dykstra has announced that he will be retiring following worship services on April 14, 2024, after 40 years of ministry. Many may remember Roger and his wife, Kathi, from their years at Salem. Roger is very clear that Kathi has been his partner in ministry during these years as she has always taken a very active role at each of the churches, serving as choir director and organist at many of the calls.
The churches Pastor Roger has served are -
First Lutheran and Vernon Lutheran, Dows, Iowa, 1984 to 1991
Salem Lutheran, Lake Mills, Iowa, 1991 to 2006
Calvary Lutheran, Grand Forks, North Dakota, 2006 to 2016
Gloria Dei Lutheran, Iowa City, Iowa, 2016 to present
We are happy for the Dykstras as they enter retirement and have more time to spend traveling, playing music, and spending time with their daughter, Melissa, who also lives in the Iowa City area. Please feel free to send a greeting to them at -
