September 13 during worship there will be Blessing of Teachers and Blessing of Backpacks and Students. Mission Quilts will be out for all to see and there will be a blessing for the recipients of those. Tori Holtan and Kaylie Sylvara will also report on their mission trip to Llano,TX. Pastor John Holt is presiding. Following worship, the Stewardship Board will be serving a delicious breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. The Youth Board will provide fun games on the south lawn for Faith Formation students who will join for breakfast afterwards. Please come to enjoy this special worship service and time of fellowship!

Jackson Rice: A Team of 18 linemen from electric cooperatives in Oklahoma, Colorado and Iowa will bring electricity for the first time to nearly 100 homes, a school and a new medical center in rural Guatemalan villages of Motenegro and El Estocal. One of the Linemen is a member of Salem, Jackson Rice! Once the power is in place, the team will also complete a community service project to upgrade the school’s kitchen and help supply the new health center. Please keep Jackson and his team in your prayers as they complete this work in Guatemala, Sept 14 - Oct 3. We are very proud of you Jackson!
Noisy Offering: The Stewardship Committee would like to announce that they will begin a “Noisy Offering” campaign, September 6—October 4. They have decided to support the Good Samaritan Ministries (Good Sam). This ministry was created to assist people in need in times of emergency. In the past this ministry has assisted with housing emergencies, medical issues, and situations relating to abuse and domestic violence. If you, or someone you know is in need, please contact Marci in the Salem office and she can help with this process. The noisy offering collection canisters are in the Narthex, please take one and fill it with your noisy offering, then return it before October 4. Along with supporting this ministry with your noisy offering we would ask that you keep the people in need of this program in your prayers. Thank you!

The Good Samaritan Ministry Mission Statement: “Following the example of the Good Samaritan, we exist to respond to those in need with the compassion of Jesus Christ.”
The Good Samaritan Ministry serves those individuals and families in need of assistance in crisis or near-crisis situations. Resources are shared with individuals where the need cannot be adequately addressed through immediate short-term financial or other assistance.

Offering Envelopes: If you would like to save Salem the cost of sending you offering envelopes, you can let the office know to stop sending them and use any envelope you wish and simply write your name on the envelope.

Volunteers: We are creating a list of Salem members who would like to do some home visits to members requesting a visit. Take one of the devotional booklets with you and have a word of prayer at the end of your visit. Sign up sheet is in the Narthex, or call the office. -Board of Life & Growth
Home visits: We are creating a list of people who may be more homebound and would like a visit with one of our Salem members. Prayer Chain Ministry is a network of people who are committed to prayer and will take action on behalf of others. If you will pray for those in need, sign-up in the Narthex to be notified by either email, text or phone. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, call the office and the prayer request will get sent out. If there is no answer, leave a message. All requests will be confidential among the prayer chain ministry. Call the office with prayer requests. Thank you!
Prayer Shawls, hand knit or crocheted by Salem members, are available in the Narthex for you to wrap someone in need. A Prayer Shawl is for anyone in need of prayer, hope, comfort and love of a community. If you would like the person included in the prayer chain, please call the office. 641.592.1771
Worship Volunteers Needed: We are in need of worship volunteers! If you are willing to usher, acolyte, serve communion, read or sing in the liturgical choir, please sign up in the Narthex or call the office. If you would like to learn how to help with sound, monitors or live stream, call the office. 641.592.1771
The Lake Mills Food Shelf is open 2:00-5:00pm every Monday for anyone in need of additional food. The only criteria for eligibility is to reside within the Lake Mills School District. The Food Shelf is now located at Salem and can be accessed at the south entrance. Anyone in need of food when the food shelf is not open; please feel free to call and leave a message at 641-592-1771 and someone will get back to you.
Salem’s Clothes Closet is open every Monday from 2:00-4:00pm at Salem’s south entrance. Clothes, shoes, boots, coats, jackets and a few other kids items are available for free. We also accept donations; they can be left inside the south entrance anytime. We ask that donations are folded and have no holes, tears or stains.
Collections: We collect pop tabs, eyeglasses and receipts from David’s Marketplace and Hy-Vee. The WELCA group receives 1 tenth of 1% of all receipts collected from David's; this can really add up and help! The Hy-Vee receipts go towards a cure for cancer. The baskets for all of these are in the Narthex. Please do not roll the receipts and keep David's separate from Hy-Vee. Thank you!
Membership List: When looking at the membership list in the Annual Report, if you notice that any of your family members information needs to be updated, please let the office know. If your family member has moved and joined another church, please remind them to contact the office to transfer membership so that we can have an accurate membership list. 641.592.1771
Copies of the July/August/September Christ in our Home, Bulletin, Council Minutes, Announcements and Annual Report are available on a cart between the doors at Salem's south entrance. The outer door is unlocked, they are just inside the door.
