Christmas Program: December 14, Faith Formation kids will be presenting their Christmas Program during worship at 9:00am. Afterwards, we will have a Birthday Party for Jesus in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome!!!
Christmas Caroling: Please join the Confirmation students on Wed. Dec. 17 for Christmas Caroling in the community. Invite your friends! Everyone from the community is welcome! The more the merrier—we have a lot of fun!!! We provide lyrics, but we also sing the most popular songs. Meet in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00pm, then carpool to the LM Care Center, Mills Harbour and other locations in the community. Toys For Tots: We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys until December 7th for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The collection box has been set out across from the church office. Toys will be distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
Lake Mills Clothes For Kids: “Let’s Clothe Our Children” Donations will be distributed throughout the Lake Mills Community School District ages birth to 18 years. Pick a Christmas Tag (with a child’s needs/sizes on it) from the electronic sign-up or pick one from a Tree at Salem Singelstads or Davids. Monetary donations are accepted at FTSB and MBT banks. Electronic tags start Nov 22 and physical tags Nov 28. For electronic sign-up go to: tinyurl.com/LMClothesForKids
Purchase the items on the child’s tag, wrap in one box, attach the original tag to the gift and deliver to one of the listed locations by Friday Dec 12. Once again this year each child’s requests have been divided into two tags. One for clothing and the other for shoes and socks. This is an effort to keep costs affordable for the givers and be able to provide for the child’s needs.
Lutheran World Relief Shipment: On October 11th, we sent our relief shipment to First Lutheran in Albert Lea and on to the warehouse in Minneapolis. Thanks to Don VanHove, Al Hagen and Steve Anderson and his pick-up our donations were delivered. We sent 75 quilts, 22 baby care kits and 133 school kits (18 kits made by the congregation and the rest assembled by the conformation class) Thanks to all who contributed. -Mission Quilters
Volunteers: We are creating a list of Salem members who would like to do some home visits to members requesting a visit. Take one of the devotional booklets with you and have a word of prayer at the end of your visit. Sign up sheet is in the Narthex, or call the office.

Home visits: We are creating a list of people who may be more homebound and would like a visit with one of our Salem members. Share Ideas: The church council is in the process of approving the shingling of the steeples. Also, the bell will be removed from the belltower at the same time. The council is looking for ideas from the congregation as to where to locate the bell and also how we want it mounted once it is on the ground. All ideas are appreciated. The timetable is the end of August, possibly into September. Thank you.
Prayer Chain Ministry is a network of people who are committed to prayer and will take action on behalf of others. If you will pray for those in need, sign-up in the Narthex to be notified by either email, text or phone. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, call the office and the prayer request will get sent out. If there is no answer, leave a message. All requests will be confidential among the prayer chain ministry. Call the office with prayer requests. Thank you!
Prayer Shawls, hand knit or crocheted by Salem members, are available in the Narthex for you to wrap someone in need. The Lake Mills Food Shelf is open 2:00-5:00pm every Monday for anyone in need of additional food. The only criteria for eligibility is to reside within the Lake Mills School District. The Food Shelf is now located at Salem and can be accessed at the south entrance. Anyone in need of food when the food shelf is not open; please feel free to call and leave a message at 641-592-1771 and someone will get back to you.
Salem’s Clothes Closet is open every Monday from 2:00-4:00pm at Salem’s south entrance. Clothes, shoes, boots, coats, jackets and a few other kids items are available for free. We also accept donations; they can be left inside the south entrance anytime. We ask that donations are folded and have no holes, tears or stains.
Collections: We collect pop tabs, eyeglasses and receipts from David’s Marketplace and Hy-Vee. The WELCA group receives 1 tenth of 1% of all receipts collected from David's; this can really add up and help! The Hy-Vee receipts go towards a cure for cancer. The baskets for all of these are in the Narthex. Please do not roll the receipts and keep David's separate from Hy-Vee. Thank you!
Membership List: When looking at the membership list in the Annual Report, if you notice that any of your family members information needs to be updated, please let the office know. If your family member has moved and joined another church, please remind them to contact the office to transfer membership so that we can have an accurate membership list. 641.592.1771
Copies of the October, November, December Christ in our Home, Bulletin, Council Minutes, Announcements and Annual Report are available on a cart between the doors at Salem's south entrance. The outer door is unlocked, they are just inside the door.
