| DCLA Day 6 Friday was our last full day at DCLA. We followed the same format as the last few days: LAB time in the morning, Lotsa Options and free time in the afternoon, and the "Big Room" at night. In LAB, we talked about, and even practiced, "telling God's story" in simple terms, and in ways that sought to connect specifically to our friends' stories. Friday afternoon brought a final walk to Old Sacramento for some, and a final dip in the hotel pool for others. With triple digit temperatures for the third day in a row, that felt fine. Friday night in the Big Room, we continued our Bible Study of John's gospel, studying chapters 15-20. It was a powerful time of study and worship, and, for a number of our youth, a time of rediscovery of the depth of God's love for them, and recommitment to be instruments of his love with their lives. All week long one of the favorite parts of our study time has been the duo of "Ted and Lee." They are actors who did a fantastic job of opening up a number of Bible stories by portraying the disciples Andrew and Peter ("Andy and Pete," in their version) with depth, insight, and humor. Later that evening, a number of our youth were delighted to meet Ted and Lee, and have their pictures taken with them. Uncle Jim and Aunt B.J. will be here with the bus Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Theyíll drive us to the convention center for the last Big Room event, and then it's off to the airport to catch our flight home! It's been a great week, but I think probably everybody is thinking that home sounds good. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers. |
