DCLA Day 4

Wednesday morning, we made it to the Convention Center
by 10:00 for the first of our DCLA LAB experiences.
During LAB time, the 3000 DCLA participants are
divided into about 10 different rooms. In those
rooms, we are each assigned membership in a discussion
circle of 6-8 other students from other churches,
towns, and states. In these smaller settings, LAB is
a time to talk about, and try, "evangelism" - sharing
our faith. We talked today about "our stories." We
were told that before we can talk to others about
their need for Christ, we need to know and remember
how deep is our own day-to-day need for Him. We
learned, too, that is important to be honest and real
- not pretending that we are some "perfect person"
that we really aren't and never will be. Evangelism
is not about being better than other people; it's
about knowing, and sharing, what Christ can do for us
where we are, as we are, because of His deep and
perfect love for us.

Wednesday afternoon brought a few hours of free time
before the Big Room Session and Concert tonight. Some
went back to the hotel for naps or some time at the
pool. A few took advantage of some "Lotsa Options"
activities at DCLA - exhibition booths, an obstacle
course, and shopping at the SuperStore for CD's by
Toby Mack and Rebecca St. James (the artists we heard
last night).

Wednesday late afternoon, a few of the girls and
adults took advantage of a special opportunity to meet
with Rebecca St. James in what was called an "Artist
Talk Back" session. Some were also able to get their
pictures taken with her and have CD's autographed.

In the "Big Room" that night, we continued our
multi-media Bible Study of the Book of John, studying
chapters 5-8.

The busiest people in Sacramento this week are the
people at Dominos Pizza. Several of us ordered pizza
when we got back to the hotel at 10:15. Our order
"sort of" arrived at midnight. (We ordered 4 pizzas -
two of them came, plus one we didn't order, and he
didn't know where it went, so he gave it to us).

We're having no trouble respecting our curfew time.
In many cases, in fact, we are snoring through our
curfew time. (Actually, Pastor Dykstra's roommates -
Brett, Joe, and Derek would point out that he is the
one doing the snoring!) (Pastor Dykstra would point
out that some of them are the ones doing the talking
in their sleep!)
