With a rich heritage of traditional Lutheran worship, Salem offers liturgical worship opportunities throughout the year. Liturgical worship is celebrated in our beautiful main sanctuary at 401 S. Lake St. in Lake Mills. The main entrance, which is fully handicapped-accessible, is found through the northernmost set of double-doors to our building from Lake Street.
From early September through late May, we celebrate traditional liturgical worship at 8:30 on Sunday mornings. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, we have one traditional liturgical service at 8:30, with a casual Summer Outdoor Service held on our south lawn at 10:15. A contemporary service, JC4U, is held in our sanctuary at 10:15 during the school year. A Saturday Worship service, with a casual liturgical format and guitar or piano accompaniment, meets in our chapel at 5:30 p.m.
Our traditional service liturgies include Setting I, Setting II, and the Service of the Word from "The Lutheran Book of Worship." Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Communing members of other Christian congregations are welcome to join in celebrations of the Lord's Supper at Salem.
Our traditional worship is enriched by our beautiful gothic-style sanctuary which was first used in 1921. Stained glass windows feature Easter and Christmas scenes. The ornate wooden altar includes a replica of DaVinci's "The Last Supper." Traditional worship will be further enriched when we complete a rebuilding and enlarging of our pipe organ in the fall of 2002. |
