SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH COUNCIL
The Salem Church Council met October 13, 2005 in the Lounge.

Those present were: Pastor Mackey, Deb Bachman, Scott Helgeson, Deb Kingland, Dianne Gardner, Don Aamodt, Linda Rasmusson, Bob Peterson, Keith Helland, Jerry Hoffman and Kathy Gilbertson. Late: Pastor Dykstra. Absent: Doug Bruhns and Amy Olson. Guest: Call Committee.

The council and board members met in the sanctuary at 7:40 to review the communion serving procedure led by Keith Helland and Bill Georgia. Dave Kingland met with the council and gave an update and explanation on the call process on behalf of the Call Committee. The council convened in the Lounge for their meeting.

Pastor Mackey led us in devotions and prayer.

Rev. Jim Magelssen, representing Bishop Ullestad and the NE Iowa Synod met with the council and spoke on Salem's 2006 Mission Support Intent.

Each council member individually read the Secretary's Report. Motion was made by Keith Helland and seconded by Bob Peterson to accept the minutes.

No Treasurer's Report was given. As of September 30, 2005 we have a balance of $17,320.83.

The Financial Secretaries Report was given by Dianne Gardner. The amount of $28,736.09 was deposited in September. It was noted statements will be sent out before Stewardship Sunday in November.

A motion was made by Linda Rasmusson seconded by Don Aamodt to accept these reports.

Board Reports:
Board of Worship and Music: Keith Helland reported after meeting in the sanctuary for the communion procedure there was no further business.

Board of Stewardship and Social Ministry: Don Aamodt reported Stewardship Sunday will be November 20 and the temple talk is scheduled for November 13.

Board of Education: Bob Peterson reported all the old desks from the church will be sold at the city wide rummage sale this weekend.

Board of Youth: Deb Bachman reported the youth is planning trips for next summer with possibly 15-20 youth participating. Movie night is scheduled for October 14. Confirmation is going well. Friday Night Alive has been well attended. Scott asked for service projects for his confirmation group.

Board of Life and Growth: Linda Rasmusson reported the new member Sunday will be October 23. On October 30 the board will be showing the movie "Luther" at 4:00. The hanging of the greens is scheduled for Saturday, November 26.

Board of Property and Management: Jerry Hoffman reported the stained glass windows that have been removed will be completed around November 13.

One in Christ Parish Council: No report given

A motion was made by Deb Kingland and seconded by Bob Peterson to accept these reports.

Old Business: No old business

New Business: The nominating committee will be meeting soon in preparation for elections at the Annual Meeting in January. Pastor Dykstra will take his final week of vacation for the year on November 4-11. A motion was made by Dianne Gardner and seconded by Don Aamodt to accept Tony & Amanda Brezina, Deb Rygh and John White as new members of Salem.

The next meeting will be held Thursday, November 10, 2005. A motion to adjourn was made by Dianne Gardner and seconded by Deb Kingland.
