SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH COUNCIL
The Salem Church Council met on April 28, 2004 in the Lounge.

President Scott Helgeson called the meeting to order.

A motion was made by Scott Helgeson and seconded by Linda Rasmussen to accept the confirmation class of 2004 as adult members of Salem.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Rasmussen and seconded by Amy Olson.

SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH COUNCIL
The Salem Church Council met on May 13, 2004 in the Lounge.

Those present were: Pastor Dykstra, Pastor Mackey, Scott Helgeson, Linda Rasmusson, Doug Bruhns, Keith Helland, Wayne Nyguard, Amy Olson, Jerry Hoffman and Kathy Gilbertson. Absent: Deb Kingland, Dianne Gardner and Bob Peterson.

Council member Doug Bruhns shared his faith journey with the council. Pastor Dykstra led us in prayer.

Each council member individually read the Secretary's report . Motion to accept the minutes was made by Doug Bruhns and seconded by Keith Helland.

No Financial Report was given. The amount of $32,885.21 was deposited in April.

The Treasurer's Report was given by Doug Bruhns. As of April 30, 2004 we have a balance of $(6,741.44). A motion was made by Linda Rasmussen and seconded by Jerry Hoffman to accept these reports.

Board Reports:
Board of Worship and Music:
Keith Helland reported Robert Robinson will be performing at Salem March 20, 2005. The concert will be sponsored parish-wide. Proceeds from this year's concert amounted to $1300.00 and a lap top was purchased. We have an organist from Winnebago that will share duties with Kathi on Sunday mornings. Synod Assembly Sunday Dr. Allan Swanson will be our lay minister. The summer outdoor service will begin on June 6.

Board of Stewardship and Social Ministry: Wayne Nyguard reported the time and talent sheets are to be turned in June 12-13. Stewardship weekend is scheduled for November 21. There will be a special offering parish wide for Padre Castillo (heart surgery) at the May 23 and 30th services. Thrivent will match funds up to $500. A bulletin board was put up for information and updates about our missionaries.

Board of Education: Pastor Mackey reported the board will be looking for a superintendent for Sunday School. Bible school will be at Winnebago and day camp will be at Salem.

Board of Youth: Amy Olson reported the board has a new mission statement. "Love God, love others, love boldly." They are continuing with fund raising for mission trips. The board is planning youth mud volleyball for June 13. The graduation recognition of seniors is Sunday, May 23 and Mavis Bergo has offered to provide treats for adult forum.

Board of Life and Growth: Linda Rasmusson reported the new member class went well. The members will be recognized on Sunday, May 16 at the services and introduced at adult forum.

Board of Property and Management: Jerry Hoffman reported the kitchen is finished. The stained glass window project is being looked into. The board wanted to thank Wayne Miller for his yard work around the church. There was a contribution given through the endowment fund for the cemetery matched up to $5000.

One In Christ Parish Council: Scott Helgeson reported with N. Prairie closing there was discussion on replacing the delegate.

Motion was made by Amy Olson, seconded by Doug Bruhns to accept these reports.

Old Business: Dianne Gardner and Helen Rice will be delegates representing Salem at the Synod Assembly on June 11-13. The pastors have requested prayer partners from the council to meet with them before the services to bless the service.

New Business: Ruth Cole has requested a transfer to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, Iowa. After discussion a motion was made by Jerry Hoffman and seconded by Linda Rasmussen to give the ALPHA program $200 to open an account. This money will be taken from the local outreach evangelism fund.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, June 9. (Summer schedule) A motion to adjourn was made by Keith Helland and seconded by Linda Rasmussen.
