Board Reports:
Board of Education: No report.
Board of Life and Growth: Margaret Okland reported the new member class is scheduled for March 20, and new members will be received on Sunday, March 30th with fellowship and coffee during adult forum. After Easter the farmers market will be set up in the Narthex. The money will be going to the One In Christ growing project.
Board of Stewardship and Social Ministry: No meeting
Board of Worship and Music: Keith Helland reported that the March 2nd service was well attended. They raised $2500 from the Robert Robinson concert for the youth. They are planning on asking Robert back next year. The brown bag prayer time is going over well and is a nice quiet time to pray in the sanctuary with organ music as a back ground.
Board of Youth: Rhonda Charlton had questions on how to handle the money they raise at Salem with the One In Christ parish kids. After some discussion, they will handle it as a board.
Board of Property and Management: Bruce Adams reported he has ordered more thermostats. He has sent out for bids on the sidewalk project and is waiting for results. They will be working on getting bids for the kitchen project. The board is looking for a member to be on the cemetery board.
The Treasurer's Report was given by Doug Bruhns. Money was received from the Loretta Austin estate and we were able to pay off the loan and the window debt. The Enduring Fund was given $4000. March 1 a short term loan was taken out for $24,000 to make payment to the One In Christ Parish. As of February 28, 2003 we have a balance of $7369.00.
The Financial Secretary's Report was given by Dianne Gardner. The amount of $53,367.89 which includes the Robinson and Austin money was deposited for the month of February.
One In Christ Parish Council: Pastor Dykstra reported the CCC number used by the task force to calculate expenses needs to be accurate. Each church will be going over their lists to make sure they are figured the same way. The preaching schedule has been made out for the year. A schedule will be made available. Each church will be responsible for paying for a guest pastor when needed in their church.
Motion was made by Wayne Nyguard, seconded by Rhonda Charlton to accept these reports.
Old Business: Pastor Mackey reported Thrivent will be donating $200 to the Bible Camp youth. More money will be available for other projects. President Mark Alphs called a congregational meeting for Sunday, March 23 at 9:25 AM in the sanctuary. We will be voting on Constitutional Changes due to the One In Christ Parish.
New Business: The Synod Assembly is scheduled for June 13-15 at Wartburg College. We will be selecting delegates at the next council meeting. Motion was made by Wayne Nyguard, seconded by Rhonda Charlton to accept Debbie Ball & son Trevor Marquez, Steve & Wendy Smith & daughters Megan & Erin Shahan, Mark & Barb Brackey, and daughters Stephanie & Melissa as new members of Salem.
