SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH COUNCIL
The Salem Church Council met on August 11, 2004 in the fellowship hall.

Those present were: Pastor Dykstra, Pastor Mackey, Scott Helgeson, Deb Kingland, Dianne Gardner, Linda Rasmusson, Doug Bruhns, Wayne Nyguard, Amy Olson, Jerry Hoffman, Keith Helland, Bob Peterson and Kathy Gilbertson.

Council member Kathy Gilbertson shared her faith journey with the council. Pastor Dykstra led us in prayer.

Each council member individually read the Secretary's Report. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Keith Helland and seconded by Wayne Nyguard.

The Financial Report was given by Dianne Gardner. The amount of $49,281.75was deposited in July.

The Treasurer's Report was given by Doug Bruhns. A motion was made by Linda Rasmusson and seconded by Deb Kingland to accept these reports.

Board Reports:
Board of Worship and Music: Keith Helland reported the River City Chorus will be performing on Sunday, August 15 at 10:15 at the outdoor service. The Parish wide service will be August 22 in Oakwood Park. The Waldorf Chorus will be performing here on February 22, 2005. Robert Robinson is scheduled to give a concert on March 20, 2005.

Board of Stewardship and Social Ministry: No report.

Board of Education: Bob Peterson reported the Sunday School and WOW teachers positions are filled for this next year. They had 35-40 Day Camp kids and were pleased with the program. Rally Day is scheduled for September 12. Please note in the bulletin the information on the filling the back packs for children.

Board of Youth: Amy Olson reported the boating day in July was a success. The biking trip to Lanesboro is planned for August 15 after church. The mission trip to Utah went very well. The group will be putting together a presentation to share with us.

Board of Life and Growth: Linda Rasmusson reported they are working on hosts for the doors and plan to have them by Rally Sunday. They are looking for volunteers to help. They are planning on a potluck picnic after the Parish Service on August 22.

Board of Property and Management: Jerry Hoffman reported the kitchen project is doing its final touchups. They are working on cleaning up the closets in the church and organizing the space they have available. Plans are coming together on the redecorating the Lounge.

One In Christ Parish Council: Scott Helgeson reported they have 25 signed up for the Guatemala trip. The council is requesting the new CCC numbers for each church by September 7. It was decided to check on insurance options due to the high costs to the parish.

Motion was made by Keith Helland, seconded by Bob Peterson to accept these reports.

Old Business: There was discussion on the financial concerns we have been experiencing this summer. No decisions have been made at this time.

New Business: A motion was made by Dianne Gardner and seconded by Jerry Hoffman to accept Elaine Bendickson, Dale Chose, Stephanie Colby, Ovila Hanna, Reuben & Eleanor Hanna, Paul & Lori Mason, Dennis, Becky & Marcia Solomonson, Tom Solomonson and Larry & Emily Voldahl as new member of Salem. Transfers were requested by Bob & Marlene Johnson and Mike Adams.

The next meeting will be held Thursday, September 9, 2004. A motion to adjourn was made by Dianne Gardner and seconded by Deb Kingland.
